Hard Disk Sentinel能夠檢測硬盤狀態、健康程度、以及性能其中包括每個硬盤的溫度、SMART值等。本工具同時還可以測試硬盤的實時傳輸率以便用來做為性能測試或者硬盤是否有隱含問題的功能。

硬盤哨兵，它使用SMART 技術監控硬盤健康、性能，及溫度等重要參數。此軟件最大的作用就是對硬盤溫度的監控和警示，比如達到特定溫度上限時通知用戶等。軟件的“修改默認硬盤圖標”特性實際上就是對新一代操作系統Windows Vista 的模擬，詳見偶的截圖，真酷！炎炎夏日即將到來，譯者建議根據此軟件監控的性狀，在資金允許的前提下購置如大功率風扇或被動散熱系統等硬盤降溫設備。此為完整集成版，無需先安裝原版，若已安裝原版，可直接覆蓋安裝此漢化，兩者配置相兼容。另外自1.3x起軟件增加了測試硬盤通電時間和對硬盤剩餘壽命預測的重要功能，這樣我們一方面可以在購買硬盤時帶上它測試奸商是不是把回籠貨拿來坑人，一方面還能有效的控制硬盤的使用周期，在其壽終正寢之前早早掏銀子出來買新傢伙，避免造成無可挽回的數據損失，畢竟數據是無價的:)
